We have displayed this knowledge base on the various transactions we were involved in, these include the some of the biggest real estate and construction deals in Nigeria including the multi-million-dollar development of malls, commercial property and residential estates. Due to keen awareness of sensitive issues surrounding real estate and the susceptibility to loss of investment capital, our team members bring a dynamic approach to our deal advisory in this regard to hold our clients’ hands to evade these loopholes.
Our real estate and construction team assists clients to protect their interests at all stages of real estate development, from planning, to due diligence on land acquisition, to assisting in the perfection of title, to providing advice on corporate structures and joint development agreements between our clients and their partners and finally assisting with leasing out office spaces or residential units to tenants upon completion of construction.
Representative Experience
- Advising Lekki Retailtainment Limited in relation to a management agreement with a multinational hospitality company for the marketing and management of the aparthotel to be built on the Lekki Mall, in the Lekki area of Lagos, Nigeria. Our scope of work included the acquisition and perfection of Lekki Retailtainment Limited’s title to the site on which the Mall is built.
- Advised an international upscale hotel management company (with over 16,000 staff members, represented in 24 countries with 83 hotels and, resorts) and its Nigerian affiliate in the development of a world-class hotel with approximately 200 rooms in Nigeria.
- Acting as joint solicitor to a N15,000,000,000 Real Estate Sukuk issuance.
- Advised on the proposed issuance of a ₦20,000,000,000 Real Estate Asset-Backed Bonds issuance Programme by a leading real estate development company.
- Advising a private land owner on a joint development arrangement with a leading property developer for the development of luxury terraces on a land situated in the highbrow area of Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria.
- Currently advising a private developer on all legal aspects of the structuring, financing, construction and development of a multi-million-dollar office complex and mall in the Lekki area of Lagos, Nigeria.
- Advising Broll Property Services on the recovery of premises and unpaid rent and other charges in connection with the Circle Mall, Lekki, Lagos.
- Advised Bridges and Stones Property Limited in relation to the construction and development of an estate (a unique mixed development of serviced houses (1, 2 and 3-bedroom flats and 4-bedroom terrace duplexes with maid quarters) on 9,000 square metres of land in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, Nigeria.
- Advising Lekki Retailtainment Limited in relation to a management agreement with a multinational hospitality company for the marketing and management of the aparthotel to be built on the Lekki Mall, in the Lekki area of Lagos, Nigeria.
- Advised Garnet Homes Limited in relation to the acquisition, financing and development of Stonehenge Estates – a unique mixed development of 300 plots of land (along the Lekki Epe Expressway, Lagos, Nigeria) into serviced plots and houses (2 and 3-bedroom flats, 3 and 4-bedroom terrace duplexes with maid quarters down to 4-bedroom semi-detached units).
- Advised Purple Real Estate Development Company Limited in connection with the financing, development and sale of 32 units of 4 Bedroom Terraced Town Houses in Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria known as Bishopsgate Residences.
- Advised Bukkha Hospitality Limited in relation to the lease of the first floor of its fast food restaurant complex ‘Bukkah Hut’ in Ilupeju area of Lagos, Nigeria to a leading chain of pharmacies and mini-beauty stores.
- Advised Maryland Mall Limited on all legal aspects of the structuring, financing, construction, development and leasing of the multi-million-dollar Maryland Mall (a 7,000 square metre retail development in Lagos, Nigeria). Our scope of work included the acquisition and perfection of Maryland Mall Limited’s title to the site on which the Mall is built.
- Advised ACAP CanaryGrowth Fund in relation to its sublease interest in over 40 shops within the New Balogun Ultra-Modern Shopping Mall in Lagos, Nigeria.
- Advised Bukkha Hospitality Limited in relation to the sub-lease of several stores within a hospitality complex leased (in the Lekki area of Lagos, Nigeria) and developed by Bukkha Hospitality Limited.
- Advised Fluid Power Marine Services Limited in relation to the review and negotiation of leases for a ship yard and jetty (for the mooring of liftboats) in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria.
- Advised Transport Services Limited in connection with the acquisition of a property measuring approximately 3.058 hectares in the Aka Industrial Area of Uyo, Akwa Ibom, Nigeria.
