Our Data Protection and Privacy Policy

Bloomfield Law Practice (“BLP”; the “Firm”; “We”; “Us”) is committed to protecting the privacy and security of those with whom we interact, including our partners, staff (whether permanent or contract), consultants, vendors, clients and visitors. We recognize the need to respect and protect information that is collected or disclosed to us ("Personal Data" explained below). BLP takes protecting your privacy seriously and takes all reasonable steps, including in relation to third party data processors to whom we grant access to Personal Data, to ensure your Personal Data is held under strict security in accordance with applicable laws. This Data Protection and Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) describes your privacy rights regarding our collection, use, storage, sharing and protection of your personal information. It applies to our website and all applications, services, tools and physical contact with us regardless of how you access or use them.

You accept the Policy when you give consent upon access to our platforms, or use our services, provide services to us, use content, features, technologies or functions offered on our website, digital platforms or visit any of our offices for official or non-official purposes (collectively “BLP Services”). This Policy governs the use of BLP services, or provision of services to BLP and other projects by our users and stakeholders unless otherwise agreed through written contract. We may amend this Policy at any time by posting a revised version on our website, or placing such notice at conspicuous points at our office facilities. The revised version will be effective 7-days after posting

As part of our routine operations, we obtain and process Personal Data including information sent to us by your computer, mobile phone and other electronic access device; information you provide to us on web forms, emails, phone numbers, organisation details, correspondence with BLP representatives etc. and information provided to us by third-parties like social media sites. We do not control the information provided by these sites and we are not liable for how they use it.

Ultimately, we collect your Personal Data to give you an efficient, enjoyable and secure experience with BLP. The purposes for which we collect your Personal Data include, to:

a. manage your accounts with us;

b. enable us provide our, and receive your services transparently;

c. resolve disputes, collect or pay fees and troubleshoot problems;

d. provide customer support;

e. carry out research, analysis, and service development; f. send marketing and non-marketing communications to our users and clients;

g. perform necessary internal operations;

h. fulfil our legal obligations;

i. test, improve, promote and personalize our interface;

j. help fight spam and abuse;

k. generate aggregate, non-identifying information about how people use our services;

l. trail information breach and remediate such identified breaches;

m. manage and protect our information technology and physical infrastructure; and

n. contact you at any time through your provided telephone number, email address or other contact details.

We store and process your personal information on our computers in Nigeria. Where we need to transfer your data to another country, such country must have an adequate data protection law. You confirm that we may send your data to a country without an adequate data protection law provided we are satisfied that the country has a data protection regime which is adequate and compatible with Nigeria law. We protect your information using physical, technical, and administrative security measures to reduce the risks of loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure and alteration. Some of the safeguards we use are firewalls, physical access controls to our data centers, and information access authorization controls.

During your interaction with our website or premises, we may provide other corporate organisations, government institutions such as Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDA), other organs of government, private sector operators performing government functions, with information such as your name, contact details, or other details you provide us for the purpose of performing our statutory mandate to you or third parties. You accept that your pictures and or testimonials on digital and physical media platforms in connection with BLP can be used for limited marketing and promotional purposes by Us. This does not

include your trademark or copyrighted materials. From time to time we may utilize your Personal Data supplied to us to send you relevant information such as news items, statutorily mandated notices, and other essential information to aid our performance of our mandate to provide you with excellent, timely and cost-effective legal services. We may also share your personal information in compliance with national or international laws; crime prevention and risk management agencies and service providers.

We will always hold your information securely. To prevent unauthorized access to your information, we have implemented strong controls and security safeguards at the technical and operational levels. BLP has also taken measures to comply with global Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) we therefore have put in place digital and physical security measures to limit or eliminate possibilities of data privacy breach incidents.

Your information is regarded as confidential and will not be divulged to any third party except under legal and/or regulatory conditions. You have the right to request sight of, and copies of any and all information we keep on you. While BLP is responsible for safeguarding the information entrusted to us, your role in fulfilling confidentiality duties includes, but is not limited to, adopting and enforcing appropriate security measures such as non-sharing of passwords and other platform login details, adherence with security protocols on our premises, dealing with only authorized officers of BLP.

We will keep your Personal Information for only the length of time prescribed in our Data Retention Policy. You may revoke your consent to the collection or use of their Personal Data at any time. However, you will not be able to use any service or feature that requires collection or use of that Personal Data.

You have a right to ask for a copy of your Personal Data with us (your right to access) or request that we delete any Personal Data held on you, where we no longer have any legal reason to retain it (your right to be forgotten). In the event of a breach of security leading to the accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorised disclosure of, or access to, Personal Data, we shall promptly assess the risk to your rights and freedoms, and where appropriate, report such breach to the relevant authorities.
