Introduction And Implementation of the Entry-Exit System (EES) for the Schenghen Area

The European Union (EU) recently introduced the Entry/Exit System (EES), a new digital system to record and track the entry and exit of non-EU) nationals at the EU’s external borders. The EES applies to twenty-nine (29) countries such that nationals from these countries or persons without residence permit from a Schengen state or associated country will be required to complete biometrics exercise and provide certain information about their travel before entering or exiting a Schengen Area. The EES took effect from October 12, 2025, and will be implemented in phases over a period of six (6) months.
